How to calculate the gold price in Jordan
Every gold price in Jordan starts from one number: the ounce price in US dollars. These steps take you from that number to what you pay in the shop.
Step 1: 24k gram in USD
Ounce price ÷ 31.1035. Example: 4,000 ÷ 31.1035 = 128.60 USD per gram.
Step 2: convert to dinar
Multiply by 0.709. Example: 128.60 × 0.709 = 91.18 JOD for a 24k gram.
Step 3: the karat you want
Multiply by karat ÷ 24. For 21k: 91.18 × 0.875 = 79.78 JOD. For 18k: 91.18 × 0.75 = 68.39 JOD.
Step 4: syndicate margin
The bulletin adds the import commission, the standards fee and the karat margin: about 0.6 JOD for 21k, 1 JOD for 24k and 2.8 JOD for 18k. That gives the shop sell price without workmanship.
Step 5: workmanship
Multiply the per-gram fee by the weight and add it. Example: a 10 g 21k bracelet with a 3 JOD/g fee = 10 × (80.40 + 3) = 834 JOD.
When selling
Weight × the buy price for the karat. The fee does not count. Example: the same bracelet at a 76.80 buy price = 768 JOD.
